Meet Shirley

Hi there, I’m Shirley, and I’m truly glad you’re here! Photography has been my passion for as long as I can recall. What initially started as a hobby evolved into Shirley Nim Photography—a venture born out of a leap of faith during a challenging period in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the journey it has taken me on thus far.

I’m married to an incredible and supportive man- Nim who is my second shooter. While he usually stays behind the scenes, together, we form a dynamic team dedicated to capturing moments that will be cherished forever.

Nim & I are extremely easy going laid back couple that genuinely loves people and getting to know their stories. I have found this to be a huge advantage when it comes to capturing genuine, candid, emotion filled images. I don’t view my clients as merely “clients”. I strive to call them friends. The more comfortable you are around me... the more naturally your personality will shine through in the images we create together

While we dabble in various photography subjects, our heart lies in capturing love stories and the essence of couples—whether it’s through intimate elopements or grand weddings. We believe that every love story is unique and deserving of being preserved in its truest form.

Our mission is simple: when you look back at your photos, we want you to not just see, but feel the love, laughter, and joy that permeated those moments. Your images should serve as a timeless reflection of your special bond, capturing the essence of who you are as a couple.

The Signature Experience

We're not all natural models, especially me. Most of my couples tell me they're "super awkward" in front of the camera. I don't think anyone's ever come to a session with me and said, “I'm the BEST at having my photo taken!" But the truth is, how comfortable you feel during your session is pretty much entirely up to your photographer.

My approach to photography is lighthearted & fun, and work with each couple to find the right balance of direction & authenticity. If I stood there, didn't say anything, and clicked my camera while you stared into it, you'd probably be pretty unhappy - both during the session and when you see your photos.

So, here's what I do instead:

I'll use the chemistry that the two of you naturally have together to make sure you have a damn good time. Don't worry, I'll guide you and tell you what to do - if your hands are hanging awkwardly (a common issue :). I'll tell you where to put them instead. But for the most part, I don't do the super pose-y stuff, and I let the session flow naturally. If you're feeling awkward, I’ll do something like: ask you about your first date, whisper something in the other's ear, slow dance to your favorite song, tickle each other, and run around like carefree kids again. My goal is to keep your focus on each other, not the camera. This approach results in authentic, candid images that capture your genuine connection and love, without feeling like you just had a photoshoot. a

From our initial consultation to the final delivery of your photos, I am dedicated to providing you with exceptional service and support. Throughout our journey together, whether it's helping with planning your timeline, scouting locations, coordinating with other vendors, or simply being your ultimate hype girl on your day, I'll be there every step of the way. My goal is to ensure that every detail aligns flawlessly, so your wedding day unfolds smoothly and beautifully.
